Support at Home, Not a Move to a Facility
Most people would rather grow older in their own home than move into a facility. Often what stands in the way is not medical need but the everyday things — meals, mobility around the house, remembering medication, and simply having somebody around.
We place caregivers who provide exactly that kind of support: practical daily help combined with genuine companionship. For many families, a caregiver a few days a week is the difference between a parent staying at home and having to leave it.
We are honest about the limits of what we provide. Our caregivers offer non-medical support and companionship. Where nursing care is needed, we will tell you so rather than placing someone into a role they are not equipped for.
What an Elderly Caregiver Provides
Non-medical support tailored to how much help is actually needed
- Companionship and conversation — often the part that matters most
- Help with mobility around the home and reducing fall risk
- Meal preparation, including support with specific dietary needs
- Medication reminders and help keeping to a routine
- Assistance with bathing, dressing and personal care where required
- Light housekeeping, laundry and keeping living areas safe and tidy
- Accompaniment to appointments, shops and social visits
How Placement Works
A careful conversation before anything else
1. Assess what is needed
An honest discussion about your family member's health, mobility, routine and how much support they genuinely need — which is often different from what everyone assumed.
2. Match on temperament
Patience matters more than almost anything in this work. We shortlist caregivers suited to your family member specifically, not just to elderly care generally.
3. Introduce gradually
Wherever possible we recommend an introductory visit. Accepting help at home is a big adjustment, and starting gently makes it stick.
4. Stay in touch
Care needs change over time. We check in so arrangements can be adjusted before they become a problem.

Check AvailabilityElderly Care in Durban: Common Questions
No. Our caregivers provide non-medical support: companionship, personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders and help around the home. If your family member needs nursing care, wound care or clinical monitoring, you need a registered nurse and we will say so.
Yes. Many families start with a few hours several days a week and increase as needs change. There is no requirement to commit to full-time care from the outset.
Yes, where round-the-clock support is needed. Live-in arrangements have specific requirements around accommodation, rest periods and time off — see our live-in domestic helpers page, or call us to discuss.
This is extremely common and worth planning for. We usually suggest starting with short visits framed around companionship or help with one specific task, rather than presenting it as personal care. Most people come round once they know the person.
Some of our caregivers have experience supporting people with memory loss. Tell us about the diagnosis and stage when you call, and we will be straightforward about whether we have someone suitable or whether you would be better served by a specialist provider.
Some do. If you need someone who can drive your family member to appointments, mention it early and we will shortlist accordingly, including verifying a valid licence.
